Enclosure 8.
Copy.
Hon.Colonial Secretary,
307
I submit two liste "A" and "B".
List ▲ shows the exact position in the case of every- one of the ex-employees of the Postal Agencies, length of
service, amount of pension or gratuity payable under the
Hongkong Pensions Ordinance, etc. etc.
1962 she
List B includes only those who were transferred to
the Agencies, from the Hongkong Government Service, in the case of each of whom a share of the gratuity paid must be borne by the Colonial Government.
2. All save 8 of these ex-employees were either trans-
ferred, on the closing of the Agencies, to the Chinese Postal
service or found employment elsewhere. London is t only prepared to pay them a gratuity at the rate of the month's
salary each, at rate which the late Mr.Ross and the ex-Postal
Agente considered most niggardly.
I therfore strongly recommend that gratuities should
be paid at the following rates;-
For under one year's Service
Nil
over 1 year & under years Service- one month's pay
